The Knoxville Open Water Swimmers (KOWS!) group is hosting this fine event and this description is from their website directly: “The Bussell Island Swim hosts 3 different distances: 1-mile, 1.6-mile and 3.3-mile. The swims are current-neutral, with the 1-mile course fully visible from a paved greenway atop the earthen Tellico dam. The 1.6-mile loop takes our swimmers from the 1-mile course on an adventure around a small tree-covered island further out into quiet Tellico Lake.“
